Kosovo - part 3!!



Mosque in Kosovo:  Mosques like this one dot the landscape in the towns and cities across Kosovo adding a unique Middle-eastern flair to this European country.

The Bazaar in Peja:  The vibrant bazaar in Peja is filled with traditional Albanian goods and well as household supplies.
The Bazaar in Peja: The Peja Bazaar is the perfect place to shop for practically anything from fresh fruit to souvenirs from Kosovo.




Traditional Albanian clothes for a boy and girl:  The vivid Albanian folk dress illustrates the colorful history of the Albanian people.  Traditional Albanian dress can be bought in many different markets and bazaars around Kosovo.

Turkish Bathhouse:  This Turkish bathhouse located in Prizren dates all the way back to 1575 during the time of the Ottoman Empire.  Built by Mehmet Pasha, the Turkish bathhouse used to house separate bathing areas for men and women.  Now, the bathhouse is preserved as a cultural space for the people of Kosovo to enjoy.
The League of Prizren museum:  The League of Prizren museum in an important cultural center in Kosovo’s history.  After the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, the league of Prizren was formed in 1878 to protect and establish the rights of the Albanian people.
Qebapa:  Qebapa is a popular Turkish dish that can be found in any city around Kosovo.  These cubed-shaped packets of meat are bursting with flavor and can be eaten by themselves or placed inside a piece of half-moon shaped bread.
Prizren Skyline:  With so much beauty and a charming atmosphere, it is no wonder that Prizren is loved by tourists and locals alike.
Street in Gjakova:  The Paved brick walkways and colorful shops in Gjokova give a whimsical air to the streets to this quaint Kosovar town.
Flija:  Flija is one of the most traditional dishes in the Albanian cuisine.  Usually cooked over an open fire, Flija is made by pouring layers of batter on top of each other and heating them up to just the right temperature to create the delicious taste of Flija.


Deçani Monastery:  The Deçani Monastery, situated on the Western side of Kosovo in Deçan, was built by St. Stephan of Deçani in 1327-1335.
Deçani Monastery:  Even though the Deçani Monastery experienced some political upheaval throughout the centuries, the walls have been uniquely preserved and the frescos you see inside the Monastery date back to the 14th century.
